 Cindy Forehand Cindy Forehand, M.S.| Senior Director

Cynthia Forehand is the Senior Director for the Center for Business and Economic Development. Cindy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Athens State College in Athens, Alabama, and a master’s degree in Counseling and Human Development from Troy State University Montgomery. Her primary professional interests include selection procedure development and administration and performance feedback.
 
Cindy has directed client projects in areas such as job analysis, validation efforts, test development and administration, performance management, strategic planning, organizational development, program planning, training, and classification and compensation.

Cindy has worked with a variety of clients to include the DeKalb County Georgia Police Department, Alabama State Bar, Pennsylvania State Police, United States Pipe and Foundry, and Alabama Gas Corporation. Cindy served on the Community Council for the River Region United Way from 2006 - 2008 and has served on several United Way committees. She is a member of the International Public Management Association and the Society for Human Resource Management, both the Montgomery and national chapters.

  John Kunzo, Ph.D. | Senior Consultant

John earned his Ph.D. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from the Georgia Institute of Technology.  During his tenure at the Institute and as part of his Masters Thesis research, he served as an internal consultant and developed a structured interview protocol for use by the human resources department. 

Prior to joining the Center for Business and Economic Development, John worked in the public and private sectors, developing award-winning and nationally certified selection, training, performance appraisal, executive assessment, organizational development, and survey programs.  He has worked with national security organizations, provided expert testimony in legal proceedings, and has developed selection systems that have reduced adverse impact and withstood litigation.
 
John has helped improve the performance of organizations through leading programmatic evaluations, such as ROI, balanced scorecard, and cost-benefit analyses, and designed and implemented interventions to address performance gaps.  He has been an invited guest speaker and made presentations at the national meetings of several professional organizations, and maintains active affiliation with the American Psychological Association and Its Measurement Division, Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, Society for Human Resources Management, and International Society for Performance and Instruction.

 

 Brent Maulden

Brent Maulden, Ph.D.| Senior Consultant

Brent Maulden holds a Doctorate of Philosophy in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the University of Memphis. Since joining the Center in 2008, Brent has worked on several projects for clients including DeKalb County (GA) Police Services Department, City of Prattville, Lighthouse Counseling Center, Alagasco, and U.S. Pipe & Foundry. 

 Previous experience includes validation of selection processes, assessment center administration, leaderless group exercise ratings, compensation studies, organizational analysis, and data analysis. Brent has a wide array of experience in psychometrics such as development and validation of personality inventories, bio-data forms, attitudinal questionnaires, and structured interviews. He also has experience in statistical analysis procedures such as multiple regression, analysis of variance, factor analysis, item response theory, and structural equation modeling. Previous clients include the City of Somerville (TN), Smith & Nephew, Performance Associates, Message Factors, Orgill Inc., and Collierville Police Department (TN).

 

Karen Stankard Karen Stankard, M.B.A. | Senior Consultant

Karen Stankard is a Senior Consultant for the Center for Business and Economic Development. Karen holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Alabama, and a master’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Information Systems from Auburn University Montgomery. Her professional interests include database design and programming and the statistical analysis of job analyses and selection procedure results.

Karen has managed projects with clients such as the Shelby County (AL) Sheriff’s Department, Lighthouse Counseling Center, and Alabama Supercomputer. Additionally, Karen has designed and administered computer-based survey instruments for a variety of applications.

Karen enjoys performing statistical analyses of test results in order to produce validation documentation and job analysis data to be used in test development. Karen also enjoys using and developing software programs to enhance productivity at the Center.

 Rodney Allen Rodney Allen | Consultant

Rodney Allen is a Consultant for the Center for Business and Economic Development. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a Human Resources Management concentration from Auburn University Montgomery. His professional interests include development and administration of personnel selection procedures, job analysis studies, and assessment centers. Rodney has worked on several projects conducting job analyses. He has also been involved in selection procedure development and administration and other human resources services.

Rodney’s professional interests include a variety of topics, but a particular area of interest is role-player training. Through a thorough role-player training program, Rodney is able to ensure standardization of multiple role players during an administration. He believes that standardized responses from role players are an important to ensuring the validity of a role-play exercise. Another appealing aspect of role-player training is the added benefit of allowing Rodney the opportunity to meet and develop a rapport with people from various professions.

Rodney also enjoys developing selection procedures. He knows that designing an exercise that is a good representation of the type of work actually performed on the job is vital to ensuring the exercise measures important job related abilities.  Rodney has developed numerous selection procedure exercises to include role-play, in-basket, meeting, and work sample exercises.


Jason Crutchfield Jason Crutchfield | Consultant

Jason Crutchfield is a Consultant for the Center for Business and Economic Development. Jason holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing. Jason has worked on several projects conducting human resources services such as job analyses and selection procedure development and administration. Jason has developed and administered a variety of exercises to include multiple-choice written exams, structured oral interviews, planning and presentation exercises, and role-play exercises.

One of Jason’s professional interests is the job analysis process. Site observations particularly appeal to Jason because during this step in the process, he can observe the incumbents performing their job at the job site. By watching an incumbent at work, Jason is better able to understand what it takes to perform a job. He is able to observe the equipment and materials while performing the job. Site observations also provide Jason the opportunity to meet and establish a rapport with subject matter experts and prepare him for the next step in the job analysis process, the group meeting. Jason enjoys learning about different occupations and the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform the job responsibilities.


 Jeanin Boddie-LaVan

 Jeanine Boddie-LaVan, M.S.| Project Consultant

Jeanine Boddie-LaVan holds a Master of Science degree from Troy University and is completing her doctoral degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology.  Jeanine has vast experience in job analysis and selection development.  Since joining the staff of the Center for Business, she has worked on projects involving job analysis and organizational and workforce development.  Jeanine has worked with many organizations to include Shelby County (AL) Sheriff’s Department, Alabama Department of Transportation, City of Prattville (AL), and Jefferson County (AL) Human Resources Department.

 

 

 Carolyn Fynan

Carolyn Fynan is a Junior Consultant for the Center for Business and Economic Development. Carolyn earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Auburn University Montgomery in Montgomery, Alabama. She is currently pursuing a Master of Science degree in Human Resource Management from Troy University Montgomery in Montgomery, Alabama. She is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management, both the Montgomery and national chapters. 

Her professional interests include several areas of human resources concentrating specifically on employee selection, development, and training. Since joining the Center she has worked with the Shelby County (AL) Sheriff’s Office and the Lighthouse Counseling Center.
Daniel Veres Daniel Veres | Junior Consultant

Daniel Veres holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama. Daniel joined the Center in June of 2008 after working as the Administrative Coordinator for the Center for Advanced Technologies since 2005. While there, he coordinated training for clients and performed marketing functions for the Center for Advanced Technologies. Daniel's previous experience includes managing contracts and grants, grant writing, research, and marketing at two private companies. Since joining the Center he has worked with organizations such as the DeKalb County (GA) Police Department, the Shelby County (AL) Sheriff's Office, the City of Prattville (AL), Alagasco, and the Lighthouse Counseling Center.


Arben M. Skivjani Arben M. Skivjani | Research Specialist askivjani@cbed.aum.edu

Arben M. Skivjani is a Research Specialist for the Center for Business. Arben holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, with an emphasis in International Business and Economics. He is currently working towards his Master’s in Business Administration degree.

Arben’s professional interests include Community Economic Development and Economic Impact Analysis. The On-line Economic Development Initiative, a multi-organizational effort to improve economic development decision-making in Alabama, is the central project in which Arben is involved. He also participates in the early stages of job analysis process projects, and also volunteers in some activities and committees with special importance for AUM.

Prior to joining the Center, Arben worked for the Center for Government, United Nations World Health Organization, European Agency for Reconstruction and Samaritan Purse.

Arben’s other interests include politics, diplomacy, web design and sports.
