Strategic Planning

We assist organizations by helping them define the strategy and direction for the future through strategic planning.   Strategic planning is a systematic process through which an organization agrees to priorities which are essential to its mission and responsive to the environment in which it operates.

Methodology

We hold brainstorming meetings with various constituent groups in order to gather the information necessary to identify the purpose and direction of the organization and express the organization's philosophy and values.   We begin a strategic planning project by guiding the organization through a process to identify the mission of the organization.  The mission statement should describe both the purpose and direction of the organization which can become a starting point for developing business goals.  Next, the vision statement is established, which is a statement that paints a picture of the organization’s success or describes what success should look like.  The next step in the process is to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the organization as well as the threats and opportunities.   Goals and objectives are then identified which define what the organization needs to do to accomplish the mission and move toward achieving the vision.

Through the strategic planning process, the Center helps an organization identify where it stands, where it wants to go, and how it plans to get there. A strategic plan can also include steps to help an organization prepare for changing external factors such as the economy, technology, workforce, and consumer market.   Additionally, a strategic plan can include disaster planning which will outline how your organization can function in the face of a natural or man-made disaster.
